Sherry Gordy

Sherry Gordy, Mother, Philanthropist and Self-Made Entrepreneur, was born on May 23rd in Detroit, Michigan and is the daughter of the legendary music mogul Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records.

Sherry was raised for the majority of her life in Southern California, where Motown relocated after its vast expansion. Despite growing up in a privileged family, Sherry learned the importance of paving her own path in life for success.

She epitomizes hard work, ethics and integrity, typically with long days and a busy schedule. Sherry enrolled in college studying Business Administration.

Sherry also took up acting at The Estelle Harmon Academy in Hollywood.

With her tremendous life experiences, education, and becoming an independent strong business woman, Sherry procured her Real Estate Brokerage license and then went on to establish her own highly successful real estate and mortgage business.
Sherry was determined to learn different aspects of the business world, so she apprenticed at Motown, shadowing her father.

Her first independent foray into entertainment production, was the comedy dinner show "Tickle Me Tuesdays Comedy Jam", inside the Blue Note showroom on the Las Vegas Strip. She brought in comedians from across the nation who had been featured on stages from BET’s Comic View, Def Comedy Jam and more. Several of these comedians went on to have their own HBO specials, world tours, Reality and network TV shows.

Sherry was introduced to philanthropy through her involvement in The Berry Gordy Family Foundation, where she recommended grants, conducted field audits, and presently serves as a Director.

In 2004, she created her own foundation. Her foundation's mission is to enhance the educational success, employment opportunities, and emotional health of children and young adults who face economic, social, and emotional challenges through an array of programs designed to enable wise lifestyle choices and other opportunities.

Sherry also assisted in producing and promoting The Las Vegas Soul Festival 2014, at The UNLV Thomas & Mack Arena, which brought headlining acts in to benefit the Lazarex Cancer Foundation.

Currently Sherry resides in Las Vegas, Nevada where she created “A-Series” inspired by Motown, Sherry Gordy Presents: Take The Stage, An Open Mic Experience- WHERE YOU ARE THE STAR…the sounds of Motown & more” Her show has live Entertainment, dancing, and a first rate talent showcase. It’s an exciting, live musical variety stage show enlisting a combination of nationally established, well-known artist, singers, poets, comics, musicians, and veteran performers, in addition to new & upcoming artists. “The Series” ran for 3 full years, inside The Club Tequila Showroom at The Fiesta Rancho Hotel and Casino in North Las Vegas, Nevada. While producing this show, Sherry received numerous awards from dignitaries and government officials. Her awards include "Entrepreneur of the Year” "Philanthropist & Humanitarian", and “Best Showroom Production". Sherry additionally created Stage 2 Stage, a spin-off from “Take the Stage”, a national talent competition judged by independent professionals, where the winner received round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, and a 45-minute spot light, on her Las Vegas Stage.
In February of 2017, Sherry took her show Down Under and presented a 90 minute Motown- Inspired Production in Brisbane, Australia to an enthusiastic and appreciative audience.
